A well deserved honor!
Earlier this month, The Latin Grammy nominees were announced, and we were pleased to hear that Shakira was nominated for album of the year!
Now, she's getting even MORE Latin Grammy love, and she's being named the 2011 Latin Recording Academy person of the year!

How absurd!
Check out the photo (above) of the mascot for Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches in Ocala, Flordia. Do U think he looks like a KKK member???
If not, you aren't necessarily in the majority, because people passing by the ice cream shop have been confusing the ice cream cone man for a hateful figure.
Here's what store manager Lisa Diaz had to say about it:
"One (customer) told me, 'I had to think twice before coming in here because I thought it was KKK.'"
"We're a friendly environment, family-oriented. We're not (racist). We're very friendly, very religious."
Obviously, up close the mascot doesn't look menacing at all, but APPARENTLY there have been many folks who have made the mistake while driving past the ice cream shop at 40mph.
Fortunately, the shop has now retired their misunderstood mascot, and they can try to move forward. According to the shop owners, they're expanding and they've recently introduced "the best Cuban sandwich in town!"
...Let's just hope they don't try to make a mascot for that menu item as well. Ha!
